Kisei Shel Eliyahu (places baby on special chair)
Sandak (holds baby during the Brit ceremony)
Sandak Me'umad (holds baby during naming ceremony)
Brachot - Kri'at Hashem (the last two can be split into two honors each)
Things to prepare before a Brit:
4 pampers
2 clean cloth diapers
Red sweet Kosher wine and kiddush cup
Firm pillow
2 Tallis (prayer shawls)
50 gauze pads (3x3) and Bacitracin or Neosporin ointment
Pre-Brit Instructions:
Baby should be fed approximately on hour before the Brit.
The foreskin (place of Brit) should be dry and clean without ointment or powder
Dress baby in clothing which may be opened from the bottom and wrap baby in receiving blanket
Post-Brit Instuctions:
Do not touch bandage wrapped around area
The Bacitracin ointment is to be smeared over a gauze pad and placed over the Brit area every time the baby is changed for the first seven days
The baby may lay on the stomach
If the baby is extremely cranky, you may give 1/2 dropper-full of liquid baby Tylenol
The area will be red for a few days and part of the Brit may become yellow or white. This is part of the healing process and there is no cause for concern.
